Dr. Satish Kumar of International Resources Group (IRG) heads the USAID ECO-III Project. He is also a Scientist (currently on leave) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley, CA) where he has worked in various capacities for 11 years. He is considered a leading international expert in the field of building energy efficiency (green building design, energy code, energy modeling, benchmarking and energy audits), public sector energy efficiency (energy-efficient procurement, energy savings performance contracts, municipal energy efficiency), monitoring and verification of energy savings, and indoor environmental quality (human health and productivity).

In his current capacity as the Chief of Party of USAID ECO-III project, he works very closely with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and supervises a team consisting of Indian and International companies and consultants. The main focus of the ECO-III project is to assist Bureau of Energy Efficiency in improving energy efficiency in buildings (both new construction, existing buildings, and municipal energy efficiency), to help develop energy efficiency capacity in Gujarat and Punjab through Energy Conservation Action Plan development, pilot project implementation, and capacity building, to help establish three Regional Energy Efficiency Centers, and to work with 20 architectural/engineering colleges in developing courses on building science and building energy simulation.

He has a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and a Ph.D. in Building Science from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA. He is a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and Certified M&V Professional (CMVP) and has published more than 40 papers and book chapters.

Ravi Kapoor has been working as Senior Program Manager since May 2007 with USAID ECO-III Project being implemented by International Resources Group (IRG). He specializes in Energy Efficiency, and before joining ECO-III Project he was actively involved in the management and monitoring of several energy programs supported by the Government of India (GoI) and International Development Agencies such as USAID, DANIDA, GTZ, EU and UNDP.

As a member of ECO-III Project Team, he has been providing technical inputs to Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in the promotion of Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) in the new commercial buildings, and energy baselining of the existing buildings. He was actively associated with the development of several technical documents (such as Energy Assessment Guide for Commercial Buildings, ECBC Tip Sheets on Building Envelope, Lighting Design, HVAC and Energy Simulation). He is actively involved in the establishment of Regional Energy Efficiency Centres in three organizations – CEPT Ahmedabad, WBREDA Kolkata and SEE TECH Hyderabad for promoting energy efficiency in buildings, domestic appliances and industrial furnaces in Small & Medium Enterprises, respectively.

He is an Engineer from Indian Institute Technology, Delhi with Post Graduation in Energy Efficiency. He has experience of working with National Productivity Council, Energy Management Centre (now BEE) and DANIDA. To promote energy audit services in the industrial sector under the UNDP - Government of India (GoI) Project, he established a network of four organisations (Confederation of Indian Industry, Chennai; National Productivity Council, Calcutta; PHD Chambers of Commerce & Industry, New Delhi; and National Small Industries Corp. Rajkot). He also managed an Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building program on energy management, funded by European Union and Ministry of Power (GoI). Under the program, the professional capacity of three Regional Institutes (Tata Energy Research Institute, Bangalore; National Productivity Council, Kanpur; Maratha Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Pune) was strengthened through ‘Energy Audit Bus Programme’. Since 2004, he has been working as an Energy Efficiency Consultant and has provided his services to BEE and GTZ under Indo-German Energy Programme.
Nirmala Nirmala Sharma

Nirmala (Nims) Sharma brings over 25 years of experience in logistics coordination, program management, and office management including over ten years of USAID and IRG experience. She has extensive background in staff supervision and office management as well as organizing and administering training programs.

As a former Office Manager and Logistics & Training Coordinator of the USAID-funded SARI/E Program implemented by the Academy of Educational Development (AED), Nims organized and managed training programs in the South Asian countries comprising Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.. She managed AED’s regional sub-offices and country managers and closely worked with USAID country coordinators of the SARI/E region.. She managed all travel logistics and accommodation, including legal documentation of personnel and country background information, as well as training program material. For IRG’s India office, Nims was responsible for organizing seminars, conferences, and workshops for local and international personnel and managing all travel logistics and legal documentation. She has an extensive knowledge in India’s country profile and proven expertise in communicating effectively with local and international staff, local ministries, and USAID representatives.

She has a Masters in Political Science from the University of Geneva, Switzerland and credits in History of Art and French. She has traveled extensively and benefited hugely from the exposure to different cultures and peoples.
Manoj M. B. Srivastava

M. B. Srivastava is associated with IRG Systems South Asia Pvt. Ltd. as professional accountant since Sep.2005. He is currently looking after the accounting, taxation and commercial requirements for the ECO-III Project requirements. He has experience of over 22 years in the field of accounting and finance. He has handled various projects of bi-lateral funding and joint ventures and has wide experience in setting-up of projects and businesses, developing systems and calibrating them to organizations’ needs and stage of development.

Currently he is associated with ECO-III project for the accounting and taxation activities. He is also associated with IRGSSA’s Disaster Management Support Project (DMSP) and with the corporate accounting and commercial obligations. He has been associated with Nuchem group for over 15 years and has been associated with them in setting-up a Joint venture with Weir of U.K. and has handled various responsibilities in the field of accounting, finance, financial institutions, taxation, commercial, company law issues, planning & strategy, etc. among others. He has undergone training with chartered accountants and worked with them on various banks, manufacturing units’ audits, taxation etc.

He has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com Hons.) from Sri Ram College of Commerce and post graduation in Commerce (M.Com) from Delhi University in 1986. He underwent Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’s training under Chartered Accountants at New Delhi.
Madhav Madhav Kamath Arbet

Madhav has a diverse background of working for a developmental project, a corporate, and a NGO, in the field of energy and environment. Prior to joining USAID ECO-III Project, Madhav was Associate Director in an NGO, helping create a fund that invests in social and environmental businesses started by low income group entrepreneurs. Prior to that, he was a Team Lead for New Ventures India project at CII- Green Business Centre and facilitated number of green enterprises in securing the equity investments. He was also part of the team promoting energy efficient product and technologies through green incubation. He also worked for an energy and environment product company, Thermax Limited in the areas of channel management and market research.

Madhav received his Chemical Engineering degree from Manipal Institute of Technology and completed “Strategic Business Communication Program” from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Aalok Aalok Deshmukh

Aalok Deshmukh, as Manager of Energy Efficiency Solutions at the USAID ECO-III Project, assists with the overall project direction, management and quality control; including identification and evaluation of consultants and technical supervision of staff and consultants; as well as with the development of technical guidance on design, construction, operation and retrofit of buildings in the public and private sector. Aalok has experience spanning contributions to over 125 projects, including experience in energy analysis, energy auditing, commissioning and retro-commissioning, as well as building energy and air-flow simulation. Aalok is a licensed architect in India; where he has also been briefly involved in research and teaching. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, has been part of the LEED certification review team and has served as an elected member on the LEED NC Core Committee for the US Green Building Council.

Prior to joining ECO-III, Aalok worked with Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) for four years, where he provided strategic corporate-, development- and building-level sustainability research and consulting services. Aalok recently managed RMI’s efforts on the greening of the Empire State Building, which incorporated an energy efficiency retrofit for the 2.7 million sq. ft. landmark office building – where implementation is currently underway for 38% annual energy use reduction ($4.4 million annual savings) at an incremental cost (for energy efficiency) of $13.2 million over planned capital upgrades of $93.7 million. Concurrently, he also managed RMI’s efforts on providing technical assistance for an energy efficiency building retrofit program that brings together the world’s largest cities, building owners, banks and energy service companies.He has a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Academy of Architecture, Mumbai and a Master’s degree in Building Science from Arizona State University, Tempe, USA. He has published several peer-reviewed technical and research papers at national and international conferences and has been an invited speaker at several events.
Vidhi Sanyogita Manu

Sanyogita Manu works as Energy Efficiency Research Associate for the IRG-USAID ECO-III Project. She is a graduate from CEPT University, Ahmedabad and has completed her Masters in Interior Architecture and Design with specialization in Energy and Sustainability. She has worked as a Research Associate and Design consultant for many projects with CEPT. She has also taught design and history courses as a Visiting Faculty member.

Sanyogita has been involved in research in the field of Building Energy Efficiency and Simulation for over four years now. Her work was initiated with the objective of integrating energy efficiency with the subject matter of interior architecture. Working on these lines, she completed her under-graduate research thesis titled ‘Exploring the realm of energy and comfort in interiors: ‘experiments’ to understand thermal effects of furniture on interior environments’, later published by the SID Research Cell, CEPT University as a thesis monograph.

Focusing on the building simulation for thermal and daylighting analysis of buildings, Sanyogita undertook some independent studies as a part of her research association with CEPT University. She had the opportunity to work at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California between March-April 2008. She also presented a paper based on her Masters dissertation at IBPSA 2009 Conference held in Glasgow.

As a member of the ECO-III Project Team, Sanyogita is working on energy simulation and analysis for both real and theoretical case studies towards understanding the impact of energy conservation measures as given in the Energy Conservation Building Code, aimed at Code enhancement and compliance guidance.

Vidhi Vidhi Kapoor

Ms. Vidhi Kapoor of International Resources Group (IRG) works as an Executive Assistant in USAID ECO-III Project. She has an experience of 10 years in the field of administration and front desk. In the span of 10 years, she has handled front desk, assisted all the administrative matters in different companies, done tele-calling for ICICI Lombard insurance, assisted Human Resources Manager in McDonald’s head office, done survey and field work also for 2 years in AIIMS as a field executive under a project called “Effects of Pollution on human health in India”.

In her current capacity as the Executive Assistant of USAID ECO-III project, she works very closely with the Chief of Party, Program Administrator and team members. She is assisting in all the administrative matters (project contacts and calendar), handles all the official correspondence, and is responsible for the overall co-ordination for all the workshops and conferences being organized under the ECO-III project.

She has a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Delhi University and a certificate holder from ‘Hero Mindmine Institute, certifying her as the best student in one of their program called ‘Telephone Etiquettes’ attended by her, and a certificate holder from ‘British Council’ also certifying that she has successfully completed a Grammar and Writing for Business Course at Upper Intermediate level.
Meetu Meetu Sharma

Ms. Meetu Sharma of International Resources Group (IRG) works as a Graphic Designer in USAID ECO-III Project. She has an experience of two yeas in the field if designing and advertising. In the Span of two years, she has prepared layouts for the magazine named India Esko and designed Posters, Book covers, Banners, News Letters, Brochures, visiting cards, Magazines etc. for the companies like Amway, Impetus, Hellex, Hellko etc.

In her current capacity as a Graphic Designer of USAID ECO- III Project. She is doing all the designing work (like designing of books, Tipsheets, Brochures, book covers, illustration of images etc.) under USAID ECO- III Project.

She has a Master's Degree in Visual Art from Ambedkar University, Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts and a Certificate holder in Multimedia from Oxford Institute Delhi.

Kailash Kailash Mahajan

Mr. Kailash Mahajan is the Deputy Chief of Party in the IRG team of USAID ECO-III Project since Nov 2006. He is associated in the activities related to state level energy conservation plans, implementing energy efficiency in small and medium enterprises and promoting energy efficiency in existing buildings.

Mr. Mahajan is a Delhi-based BEE certified energy auditor. After graduation from Delhi College of Engineering in 1972 , he pursued a two-year post graduate diploma in Energy Efficiency from National Productivity Council from 1974-76. He obtained Diploma from International Centre for Advanced Technical and Vocational Training at International Labor Organization (ILO), Turin, Italy from September 1983 to December 1983 after following a program of study in the field of Management of Energy Resources and Energy Saving.

Over the past 35 years, he has accumulated knowledge and experience in dealing with techno-managerial issues in the emerging fields of energy efficiency, renewable energy and clean technologies. Among key activities taken include energy policy research, training of personnel in the field of demand side management and promoting public private partnerships in implementing energy end use efficiency improvements. He has in-depth experience of working with organizations such as NPC, PCRA, ADB, BEE, GTZ, ICICI, CII, state level development institutions. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of management & administration of energy consultancy activities.
Anurag Anurag Bajpai
ECBC & Communications Expert, USAID ECO-III Project

Anurag Bajpai works as ECBC and Communications Expert at the USAID ECO-III Project (International Resources Group). He is a graduate from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and has worked in different capacities with several profit and non-profit making organizations. He has excellent experience in the field of power plant engineering services while working with Siemens Power Engineering Limited (SPEL). He serves as a board member of International Building Performance and Simulation Association (IBPSA India) and plays a very active role in India Youth Climate Network (IYCN) activities.

Anurag has worked with Ar. Charles Correa, a major figure in contemporary architecture worldwide. Moreover, working for a societal welfare, he is with several non-profit making organizations like ‘AIM for Seva’ (low cost educational setup for tribal in Gujarat) and ‘Ethos India’ (engages young minds in national level quizzes and competitions for Architects and Civil engineering students).

Currently, as a member of USAID ECO-III project team, he is working primarily on implementation program of Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC). His responsibility includes working on ECBC demonstration project including energy simulation, Educational Curriculum Enhancement program for 20 Architectural/engineering colleges, ECBC awareness material for public domain, capacity building events such as ECBC workshops and conferences.
